Woodstock Run, July 15, 2007

Steve and Teddy were ready to hit the road when I got to Steve's at 8:10.  We took Macopin Road out of Bloomingdale, past Greenwood Lake, then, basically 208, 44/55 over Mohunk and 209 - 375 to the Woodstock Lodge.  It was a perfect morning for riding.  T-shirt all the way.  Teddy pointed out that my tail light was out.  A new bulb and some plastic tape on some crossed wires handled the problem.  The planned ride took us from the lodge up through Phoenecia on 212, over to 28 and down on the south side of Ashokan Reservoir on 28A.  We had a barbeque lunch at Hickory Bar-B-Que in Sunny Hollow at the base of the 10-mile long lake.  Then, Steve and Teddy headed back the way we came and I took the Thruway.  We hit some rain along the Ashokan route and it really stormed major while we were eating.  We had a couple delays along the route.  Traffic was stopped along Esophus Creek between Phoenicia and the lake due to a kayaker who may have drowned below the bridge on 28.  Then, the run leader's bike broke down where 8A and 28A meet below the reservoir.  It had cleared a bit when we left Hickory Barbeque, but I caught up to it on the Thruway, passed it and then it caught back up when I hit stop-and-go for 12 miles due to a tree down on the right lane.

Anyway, a day riding wet is better than a dry day doing most other things.  230 miles.
