I don’t know you, or where you have been, as I am new to the message board myself. I hope you don’t mind some input. This submission is a particularly nasty little piece of character assassination, comprised totally of innuendo, speculation, proven lies, disingenuous inferences, erroneous conclusions, imaginary scenarios presented as fact, false comparisons, boilerplate Leftist propaganda, completely refuted allegations, skewed perspectives and historical ignorance. It reeks of mindless hate. You should be mindful of what you pass on from chain-emails as you may be challenged to defend it. For one especially egregious example, this screed claims: “I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the world community.” Some true facts: Truman... led us into war in Korea, North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year. John F. Kennedy... started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson... expanded the Vietnam war. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. So much for pre-emptive. But we didn’t occupy these countries as Bush is doing, you say? Well, that’s because these democrats all lost these wars and Bush won his. Occupation: Clinton... went to war in Bosnia without UN sanction or a Congressional resolution, Bosnia never attacked us. How about Kosovo? We are still “occupying” those countries. And, the use of the inflammatory word, “occupation” is for purely emotional effect anyway. We still have forces in South Korea, Germany and Japan. Are we occupying those nations? Of course not. They have their own elected governments (thanks to us) completely free of American influence. Any one of them could ask us to leave and we would. The case in Iraq will be the same. And just for spice: According to Gallup, in January 2003, 53% of Americans approved of going to war in Iraq. So, the assertion that it was “against the will of the …the majority of U.S. citizens” is a lie. The “world community” cited in this statement is the vocal Leftist crackpots who demonstrated against the war and the “world leaders” who were milking the oil-for-food program for billions, not the silent majority who have better things to do than rail against the deposition of a psychotic, madman. And, is it supposed to be scandalous that we pursued our own national interests against the will of the United Nations which is comprised of America’s enemies, foul dictatorships, Islamist sh*tholes and France? This is a badge of honor! I could go on shredding this one foul, slanderous, America-hating statement out of this huge list. I could dissect this entire loathsome screed in my sleep. But, it’s Friday night and I must commence on my obligatory 12-pack, dripping with condensation and beckoning seductively. Instead, how about you, Diana, or anyone, picking one statement out of all; choose the best of the best; the one factoid that really hammers the president; the one irrefutable, irredeemable, can-never-come-back-from, election-busting iniquity; the one glaring quality or failing of this president that demonstrates, above all of his predecessors, his unsuitability for the office, and I will have the great pleasure of ripping it to shreds! And that………after my beers! ;-) Oh, by the way, from a Republican chain-email: In the two years since terrorists
attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the
Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and
North Korea without firing a shot, and The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but... It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound and incinerate 80 people, most of them women and children. That was a 51-day operation. We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records. It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick. It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!
