Doug -

You're like Bush. You believe what is convenient for you to believe.

There are two realities that should horrify Bush fans: 1) OBL is alive and 2) there are no WMD's in Iraq.

Bush fought the wrong war at the wrong time.

Notice how OBL brings up the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. I'm tired of the refrain that this is just an excuse. If a few Jewish Wall Street financiers can trade it all in to join the Israeli army (which they have), I don't undertand why it is so hard to believe that thousands of Muslims will trade in far less for the same cause: to defend their religion and kindred spirits against assault and injury.

Your hero,
Marc

Dear Hero,
I believed Osama was dead because he has not made an appearance in 2-and-a-half years. It was a purely rational assumption and not based on any “convenience.” His corporeal existence has absolutely no influence on my positions.

I don’t presume to be privy to what GW believes. I have always been open to refutation and accept readily the evidence that I may have been wrong in my assumption.

I am not horrified.

Is there a right time to fight a wrong war? Is there a wrong time to fight a right war? Either it’s the wrong war or it ain’t.

Are you saying the Islamo-Fascist war against modern civilization is based solely on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict??? Are you ignoring 1400 years of brutal Islam assaults against the enlightened Western world where your conquered ancestors were raped and slaughtered mercilessly? Are you ignoring the current assaults against non-Muslim and even Muslim peoples who have absolutely nothing to do with Israel? Islam is at war with its neighbors everywhere on Earth regardless of affiliation with Israel.

I have no problem believing that thousands of Muslims will fight for their religion and kindred spirits. Why do you think I would? It is obviously true. The problem is THAT THEY ARE FIGHTING ON THE SIDE OF EVIL AND MUST BE EXTERMINATED! Just as I admire the few people who relinquish lucrative positions to fight on the side of good, so I desire the defeat of thousands of those less fortunate who fight for loot, rape and plunder.

What are you saying here? I really don’t get it. Are you saying if the civilized world just surrenders Israel, the insatiable monsters of Allah will retreat and leave us alone? Is that what you believe? Do you think if the Israelis were slaughtered, raped and plundered as has been the Moslem modus operandi for a thousand years and their lands occupied by the Moslem hordes, the Moslems would relinquish their obsession for a Moslem tyranny over all of the world? Is this your Chamberlainian delusion? Would you cut off your arm and throw it to the crocodile believing it will slake its thirst and not inflame it?

We are in a fight. Israel is fighting the exact same enemy that we are. They are the canary in the coal mine. If your hatred of Israel precludes your support of those who fight to preserve the way of life that you enjoy, at least have the humble decency to stay out of the way.

Ok, you make a compelling case for your point of view. Although I disagree strongly with many of Israel's policies, I never thought that this conflict was primarily about Israel and the Palestinians. That situation is a lightning rod used to perfection by Arab leaders that have little concern for the Palestinians. You are correct in your metaphor (canary in the coal mine). The conflict is cultural, religious and racial. It has more to do with poverty, lack of hope, inequity as well as ethnic and racial humiliation. This is the fuel that feeds the fire of discontent. Islam is a means to channel the fire.

Do you advocate the extermination of Islam as a religion (and everyone that practices it)or just the neutering of its ability to perverted in its' "obsession for a Moslem tyranny over all of the world"?

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of my post.

Yes, I would like to see Islam eliminated. It is not just a religion, but a totalitarian political philosophy. Like Communism, it stands in the way of humanity's long, slow march to individual freedom. It is not the outlet for poverty, lack of hope, inequity and ethnic and racial humiliation, but the cause.

I do not advocate the extermination of its adherents. The thought is horrifying beyond imagination. I would like to see it evolve away from the evil system that it is or fade away through attrition.
