Begging

Every week I receive pleas from The Republican Party for money. In the past, when the chips were down, and the stakes were high, I sent a check for twenty bucks or so to the various appendages of the party. Now, like a stray dog to whom you once proffered a scrap, they hang around begging interminably, expecting another bone as their due.
There’s a problem here. I expected certain results from my largesse. Now, with a Republican House, Senate and White House, why is the budget exploding? Why are the borders wide open? Why is there no slightest attempt to eliminate un-constitutional activities by the feds like the Depts. of Education and Commerce and Energy? Why are constitutionalist judges being lynched, smeared, and held in limbo by the election losers?
There is absolutely no excuse for this shit.
So, for a while, I responded to the donation letters with letters of my own explaining why I was not contributing. These were totally ignored as the next one would come in saying that they had not heard from me. Obviously, any correspondence that did not include a check was shit-canned unread.
The surveys are really pathetic. They figure that by getting you involved and soliciting your opinion on a myriad of issues, they can con you into sending some money. I figure, if they don’t read their constituents’ letters that include no check, they also ignore these surveys that are similarly lacking. In fact, you will notice that these surveys are not suitable for machine reading. Now, do you think that these same people, who cannot bother to read a contributor’s letter, are going to manually go through thousands of surveys to divine people’s opinions? They pull out the money and trashcan the stupid survey.
Anyway, I keep all the letters I receive until Sunday. If my Party shows any inkling of balls during that week, I make the donation. I am just so psyched and excited. It doesn’t happen often; rarely in a year’s time. Every other week, they all hit the Monday morning trash.
If the Senate pulls the “nuclear option” on the dem obstructionists on judicial nominees, or passes a national driver license standard, a check WILL be forthcoming. I am not holding my pen in readiness.
I do tithe, just not to politicians. I support the groups that put the politicos feet to the fire and get results – Club For Growth, NRA, Institute for Justice, American Center for Law and Justice (these are the guys that take on the cancerous ACLU), Heritage Foundation, FIRE – Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, Center for the Study of Popular Culture, Moving America Forward. These are motivated people, fighting the enemies of America, like Republican politicians wish they could in their wildest dreams. These are the people that shame politicians into doing their duty. These are the people that scare politicians into doing their duty.
And when, the moon turns blue and the politicians do what they have been shamed and scared into doing, then I might be inclined to support the Party with a small check.
Most of my letters to Republican solicitors were scribbled on their own forms and sent back. Some I typed out and saved. Here they are.
