Commies Discover The Constitution
February 16, 2006
By Douglas B. Wakeman
An acquaintance who believes that the Constitution is a living document that must evolve with the changing times (in other words, he doesn’t believe in the Constitution) suddenly became solicitous of the charter when he perceived that its protections might give an advantage to the Islamo-fascist enemy.
Shortly after the NYT exposed a top secret espionage program, he expressed support and admiration for the Constitution. I was shocked. I inquired what brought about this change and he said it was the result of seeing it shredded (presumably by Bush’s spy program). Now, why somebody with disdain for the document would care if it was shredded, pissed on, used for fish wrap or toilet paper is unexplored. Obviously, he saw, in the NSA wiretap brouhaha, a chance to undermine our ability to keep tabs on enemy communications and he took it.
But, what strikes me as hilarious here is the opportunistic hypocrisy.
How can any politician do anything unconstitutional under the liberal notion of a living, breathing Constitution, since under this paradigm, everything is undecided until a court pronounces judgment?
Here is the process by which these creatures operate vis-à-vis constitutional law:
1. Any public figure performs any act.
2. An opponent challenges the act in court.
3. The issue works its way up to the Supreme Court where it is either made into new constitutional law or rejected as unconstitutional.
4. If the decision does not comport with liberal dogma, the process begins again.
So, since all actions exist in an amorphous, moral and legal limbo until adjudicated, how could anything done by Bush be pronounced unconstitutional by a liberal before it has gone through these steps?
Well, it’s simply because in Marxo-Hate-America land, there are no rules. Anything that will damage America and aid her enemies will be embraced on some pretext, and anything that will help America maintain liberty and modern civilization will be demonized with ululations of outrage. One moment the Constitution is ignored and the next it is sacrosanct.
Logic and consistency have no place here. The phony Leftist cry of, “Unconstitutional!”, in feigned defense of a set of rules that they despise, is just a calculated lie with which to alarm and propagandize an ill-informed populace.
