Those Conservative Democrats
November 11, 2006
By Douglas B. Wakeman
At first, the Republicans could not believe that the conservative wing of the party had abandoned them; had stayed home or voted Democrat to punish them for their betrayal. So, they claimed that the Democrats had won only where they espoused conservative themes. From there we had a few pundits proposing that there were now elected conservatives in the Democrat caucus. Then, more pundits and columnists came on board claiming that the left wing Dem leadership would have trouble reining in the new young conservative Turks. Then, I actually heard conservative commentators and columnists hopefully positing that the Democrat Party was moving to the right.
What a load of excrement!
There are no conservative Democrats!
Those that won seats by claiming to hold conservative positions were lying! Yep, as hard as it may be to believe, politicians will sometimes lie to get elected!
If there were some "moderate" Dems in the new congress, the radical Leftist leadership is not about to roll over for a few newbies.
I guess hope springs eternal. Here's a suggestion for those pundits, commentators and columnists who think the Democrat Party is normalizing. Sit back with your safe cigarette and your non-fat beer while waiting for Santa Claus to come down your chimney and make plans about how you're going to spend the tax cuts to be delivered by the new "conservative" Democrats.
The checks should arrive just as the Easter Bunny comes hippity-hopping down the garden trail.
