Smokey's mother was hanging around my brother Greg's
house all summer eating their chipmunks.
They think she was ditched by some scumbags.
They can't get very close to her. She had
kittens and all disappeared except this one.
The little thing was hanging around crying her little
head off. They started feeding her and she
stayed pretty much around the yard. When the
mother was around she hissed and chased her away from
the food. Greg called me one Saturday night,
November 2007 and said they were worried she would
freeze. He had set up a lean-to with sides.
I told him I would come up and get her Sunday.
Obviously we couldn't let her go through the winter
outside. She would just get wilder and maybe
get a respiratory infection and die. As soon
as I got her home and picked her up she purred like an
airplane. The vet says she was probably born
around September 13.
